I assure you, m'lady, I was there when he commanded the mages leave. I am not mistaken and he very clearly had a choice. I don't personally believe he had to turn the mages out for what happened. But he did and the Inquisition took the mages in, we needed their aid anyway. FIona was doing what she thought best for her people and she was manipulated and lied to. Once the Venatori influence was removed, they would have been no threat to Redcliffe. They simply over-stayed their welcome.
